Every night we count our lucky stars that nobody has come to ask for their house back!  We love our V house and the way it sits snugly into the landscape. John and his team have truly over delivered for us.  It is really easy to live in, the spaces work well irrespective of it’s just the 2 of us or 20.  John and team are super easy to work with, and good fun to sit down for a wee dram too!

John has helped us create our forever house. He is an incredibly talented architect. We would recommend him and would definitely use him again if we ever embarked on another project. He is very thoughtful and meticulous in his planning and worked to the brief whilst at the same time enhanced our vision for what we wanted. We thoroughly enjoyed working with him and had some great discussions over a quiet glass of red wine. He was always enthusiastic about the project, hard working and had a really relaxed personable style that is awesome. After busy days at work we get home to our little slice of paradise and pinch ourselves as to how lucky we are to have such an amazing house. There are so many different and versatile spaces. Everything in the house is functional but at the same time has John’s architectural touch that makes it a really special place.

John’s a genius. We gave him a very loose brief and introduced him to our site. Before we knew it he had scribbled a concept that both captured our imagination and blended into a stunning location. We couldn’t be happier with the final outcome.

John certainly has an eye for dramatic architecture; case in point, we never really imagined living in a home with a seven metre stud. He has a real knack for spatial volume and scale - the home we recently built in Clevedon is on a vast site so the structure needed to respond accordingly, it now sits wonderfully in scale with the surrounding rural landscape. 
 John and his team showed patience, flexibility and creativity. I have to pinch myself, often, that this is actually our home - a rural sanctuary by the sea with a sophisticated modern touch that has the wow factor, and some. The fact we never want to leave home speaks volumes. With gratitude,

Honestly, we can't fault the work that John carried out for us. Not only was it important for us to collectively create a home that was more than a little bit special... We wanted to work with someone we both liked and enjoyed sharing a glass of pinot with as we poured over the details. John was our guy. The house is now complete, we absolutely LOVE everything about it, just amazing. The project was a Ponsonby villa conversion, old meets new, which came together in a tastefully intertwined morphing of two uniquely distinct decades. He just really 'got it' - he made what is likely to be a stressful and unpleasant experience into a slick, highly enjoyable process.

John is a joy to work with. Not only are his buildings beautiful and organic, but they are functional as well. John is open to feedback and is always willing to simplify and streamline a design so that it feels good AND looks good! He will think creatively about the way a building should flow as it is used as a home / a space with people living in it. The cottages he designed for Tara Iti have a comfort factor, as well as a creative edge. The guests have given nothing but positive feedback regarding the design.

John is a very talented architect and we very much enjoyed the whole process, our beach house feels like it belongs exactly where it is. The site had many design challenges and he listened to our brief and came up with a design that just worked, what we now have is true to the initial concepts and John and his team were committed to getting every detail just right. Everyone who visits loves the simple uncluttered feel of the place, everything is beautifully and cleanly designed and it all just works….we couldn’t be happier.

John and his team are a pleasure to work with and very talented, we have no hesitation in recommending them. Over the last 5 years John has completed a new beach house for us as well as two smaller renovations and we are delighted with the results in each of the projects. Apart from John's clear design talent, we believe that a particular skill John has is being able to accommodate many of the ideas that we had into the design, making it a cooperative and enjoyable process.
